Your accommodation is the luxurious 5-star Praia D’El Rey Marriott Golf & Beach Resort, perched on the Atlantic seafront. Named “Portugal’s Best Golf Hotel” in 2024, the resort recently underwent an impressive upgrade to its Kalyan Spa and indoor pool area. These enhancements include a vitality pool, relaxation pool, Finnish sauna, Turkish bath area, and a sensory shower - ensuring ultimate relaxation and rejuvenation during your stay.

This evening, join your hosts and fellow travelers for dinner and drinks at a Welcome Reception - a perfect start to your Portuguese adventure.

Day 2:  13 September 2025 (B) - Alcobaça and Nazaré

Today, we’ll visit the Monastery of Alcobaça, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Portugal’s Seven Wonders. This grand Cistercian monastery is renowned for its historical significance and architectural splendor. At the tombs of King Pedro I and his tragically murdered lover, Inês de Castro, we’ll uncover the poignant tale of their forbidden love and enduring passion.

Next, we’ll make our way to Nazaré, a picturesque fishing village famed for its towering winter waves that attract surfers from around the globe. Wander through its quaint cobbled streets, ride the funicular to Sítio for breathtaking panoramic views and a glimpse of its elegant Baroque church, and savor a leisurely lunch with the sea as your backdrop.

For those who prefer to spend their day on the course, you can opt for a round at Royal Óbidos Golf Course instead of the sightseeing—at no extra cost.

Day 4:  15 September 2025 (B) - Praia D'El Rey (Ranked #8)

Praia D’El Rey is one of the most attractive golf courses, set among extensive scented pine forests and undulating dunes, with spectacular views over the Atlantic and the Berlengas Islands beyond. Designed by American golf architect Cabell B. Robinson, the course features deep bunkers, sloping greens and sandy dunes that contrast sharply with the lush fairways, making it the complete golfing challenge.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit the picturesque medieval town of Óbidos with its whitewashed houses, Moorish castle and natural lagoon. You’ll be at leisure to explore the charming streets, climb the fortified walls surrounding the town and enjoy supper at own expense prior to returning to the hotel.

Day 5:  16 September 2025 (B) - West Cliffs (Ranked #2)

Designed by golf course architect Cynthia Dye, West Cliffs was elected the “World’s Best New Course” in 2017 and has repeatedly won awards as one of the best golf courses in Portugal.

The well-balanced, sustainable links course was created with minimal disruption to the native coastal environment. Offering sweeping views of the Atlantic, Berlengas Islands and Óbidos Lagoon, this dramatic seaside layout has been laid out within a 200-hectare property consisting of rolling sand dunes and coastal vegetation.

Evening at leisure.

Day 6:  17 September 2025 (B) - Day in Sintra

Today, we journey to the enchanting town of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site straight out of a fairy tale. This extraordinary destination is a treasure trove of glittering palaces, pastel-colored mansions, exotic gardens, and historic landmarks.

Our explorations include the Castelo dos Mouros (Moorish Castle), a 10th century fortress perched atop the mountain, and Sintra’s most iconic monument, the Palácio Nacional da Pena. Described by Lonely Planet as “a wacky confection of onion domes, Moorish keyhole gates, writhing stone snakes, and crenellated towers in pinks and lemons,” it is a sight to behold.

For the next three nights, we’ll stay at the luxurious 5-star Penha Longa Resort, nestled within the Sintra-Cascais Nature Reserve. This glamorous retreat features a 14th-century monastery and chapel, seven dining experiences (including two Michelin-starred restaurants), the Penha Longa Spa and Wellness Club, and the renowned Penha Longa Atlântico Golf Course.

The evening is yours to enjoy at leisure.

Day 7:  18 September 2025 (B) - Penha Longa Atlântico Golf Course (Ranked #12)

Exciting at every turn, this championship challenge and host to the Portuguese Open, is a master test of variety and thrills.

We leave fabulous Penha Longa for Lisbon. Before checking in to the 5-star Iberostar Selection Lisboa, our coach will drop us off in one of Lisbon’s most captivating districts, Bairro Alto. This bohemian neighbourhood with its steep, sloping cobblestone streets is home to an intriguing mix of artists, designers, antique shops, chic bars, esplanades, shabby chic shops and designer boutiques.  From here we’’ll set off on a 3-hour walking tour.

Day 10:  21 September 2025 (B) - PGA Aroeira Golf No.1 - Pines Classic (Ranked #25)

Aroeira No. 1 has re-opened after an extensive project to further elevate one of Portugal’s most popular layouts. Winding through protected pine woodland, PGA Aroeira No. 1 immerses golfers in the heart of Portugal’s natural beauty – despite being just 30 minutes south of Lisbon. A masterpiece from golfing icon Frank Pennink, the course opened in 1972 and was quickly christened ‘the Wentworth of Lisbon’ by visiting players.

The par-72 course is a gripping challenge for even the most experienced golfers, demanding accuracy off the tee if you are to earn a low score. Surrounded by towering pine trees, Aroeira No. 1 rewards those who think before they shoot – and a variety of tee options ensure that players of all abilities can enjoy the course.

In 1996 and 1997, Aroeira No. 1 hosted the European Tour’s Portuguese Open before the prestigious European Men’s Club Trophy came to the course in 2013. Aroeira No. 1 is ranked in Golf World magazine’s latest list of the top 100 courses in continental Europe.

Today we play our last round of golf at the “World’s Best Golf Course 2024” - the impressive Dunas Course at Terras da Comporta.

Described as “Europe’s new superstar”, the course was designed by the acclaimed architect David McLay-Kidd.

The par-71 layout won instant acclaim in 2023, including being named as the ‘World's and Europe’s Best New Golf Course’ at the 2023 World Golf Awards and being ranked ninth in Golf World magazine’s respected industry poll of the ‘Top 100 Golf Courses in Continental Europe’ for 2023-2024.
