Escape to Japan's southern paradise, Okinawa, a lush golfer's paradise. Explore the unique cultural heritage of this once independent nation, the Ryukyu Kingdom, which flourished for over 400 years through trade with Japan, China, and Southeast Asia. Today, Okinawa retains its own identity, from its distinct dialect of Japanese to its rich traditions, a legacy of its historical cultural exchange.
Okinawa has some of the best resort courses that Japan has to offer, and November brings cooler weather, perfect for golf. Daytime temperatures average around 23 degrees C with highs of 27 and lows of 19 degrees.
The local cuisine is a must-try for those looking for new flavours and an insight to Japan's diverse food culture. Dishes like Goya Champuru (bitter melon stir-fry), Rafute (a braised pork belly dish), Umibudou (a type of seaweed) and Okinawan soba are some of the foods unique to the island. Drinks unique to Okinawa include Awamori which is a distilled spirit often used as a cocktail base.
